8000m Peaks

There are 14 mountains that are 8000m or higher, in the world.  These mountains call climbers to great heights, where the air is thin and the expeditions are long.  Meagan loves to climb on 8000m peaks.  Travelling to remote corners of beautiful countries, working with amazing people.  Being challenged by weather, mountain conditions, logistic issues, unforeseen obstacles – every decision matters in the high places. In a place where all factors need to be in place for success, it is rare to summit, but it is all the more special when the mountain grants you the opportunity.

  • Everest (Highest in the World)
  • Climbing Period: April and May
  • Altitude: 29,035ft / 8850m
  • Route: South-side (Normal)
  • The route to the summit of Mount Everest takes climbers on quite an interesting climb. Climbers must ascend through the Khumbu Ice Fall, resting at Camp 1, 5900m (19,357ft), and then continue through the Western Cwm to Camp 2, 6400m (20,998ft). After a brief rest at Camp 3, on the Lhotse Face, at 7300m (23,951ft), climbers will then traverse the face, across the Yellow Band, and over the Geneva Spur, arriving at Camp 4 on the South Col. The next phase of the climb is the summit attempt, which takes climbers up toward the Balcony, the South Summit and along the Traverse to the summit of Mount Everest (29,035ft / 8850m).
  • Meagan successfully summitted Mount Everest in May 2007
